When I say I am a travel designer, what I include in the word “travel” is holidays as much as adventures. Travels can be short or long, conservative or adventurous, near or far, they all involve leaving home to spend a special time together as a family.

For the pas few years, my family and I lived in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Since January 2025, we made the transition to live full time in the beautiful mountains of Costa Rica. But nothing changes for you, just the background during our calls! 

A Travel Designer, also known as a Travel Planner, specialises in creating bespoke trips tailored to your specific desires and budget. They don’t typically specialise in a particular destination, as each holiday they design is unique. A Travel Designer works on a fixed fee per project, without taking commissions, as they do not handle the bookings themselves.

In contrast, a Travel Agent offers pre-packaged tours or holidays and manages all the bookings for their clients. Their business model relies on the fees they charge for designing and planning the holiday, as well as the commission they earn from every booking they make. Travel Agents often specialise in specific destinations and offer set itineraries based on pre-designed tour packages.
